Rep. Lesie Osborn Rejecting Money She Doesn't Have Coming to Her
This is a late story, it was a busy month in November with the Special Session and all but it is an important story as we should all know the kind of people that are running for office. The info came from an unlikely source, a Democrat, but obviously one that doesn't like hypocrisy any more than the rest of us.
The scandal started with a post by Angela Clark Little on November 12 at 6:56 p.m. on the Facebook page of Oklahoma Parents and Educators for Public Education. Rep. Leslie Osborn had initially announced that she was waiving her claim for Per Diem and Angela Clark Little posted it bragging about Osborn. After Osborn was called out because she was not eligible for Per Diem, she tried to claim that she was talking about mileage and said that Speaker McCall had told her that mileage was a "part of Per Diem".
Angela Clark Little did her best to insulate Osborn from criticism, she deleted a post by Rep. Emily Virgin that called out Osborn. Then after It became apparent to everyone that Osborn and Little were not being honest and Little was called out for deleting posts, Little allowed subsequent posts but she also amended her post to make It look like Osborn had just said that she would be waiving mileage and omitted the earlier reference to Per Diem.
The amended post is below. By the way, Osborn lives less than 21 miles from the Capitol and the amended post also brags on Stephanie Bice who has to drive approximately 14 miles to get to the Capitol. The picture of Osborn's original claim sheet that doesn't mention anything about mileage (but does mention the Per Diem that she is not eligible to claim) is attached.
Here is a copy and paste version of the actual Facebook post:
"Rep Leslie Osborn just commented on a post about mileage reimbursement during special session and i felt this needed to be pulled into its own post. I've said this a thousands times but i am such a fan of hers. Thank you Rep Osborn!!
Updating this to explain a little better. Legislators who live within 50 miles of the Capitol are offered reimbursement on gas mileage which some also refer to as per diem. Several don't take it. Even during regular session which is awesome. Those who need lodging bc they can't travel back and forth take their per diem so they can afford a place to sleep during week which is totally understandable.
"I am proud to add that Senator Bice (my Senator) is doing the same!!
I am sure there are others and we would love to hear from you!! :)"
Sadly this is inline with Leslie Osborn's past actions. She has been an immoral person and an immoral legislator and if elected to state wide office we see no reason why she would change her behavior or her morals. What she needs is kicked away from the public trough and forced to go back to working for a living like the rest of us.
