Shake Down the Poultry Industry
Speaker Charles McCall, Floor Leader Chris Kannaday, Pro Tem Harold Wright, Mike Sanders, Glen Mulready and the lieutenants of House leadership are scrambling to dig up money for the general election after having squandered much of their resources diverting hundreds of thousands of dollars of campaign donations into the attack on House conservatives. With the actual donors hidden behind PACs from Washington D.C. we won't know the extent nor the names of the donors but you can tell from the scramble for cash that House leadership is behind and worried about Democrats picking up even more seats.
Nothing explains this better than last week's announcement of a new "Council" to seek a solution on poultry growth in Northeast Oklahoma. Speaker Charles McCall appointed Rep. Josh West to serve on the newly created Coordinating Council on Poultry Growth.
The idea is that the council will examine the expansion of poultry production and the impact on communities and citizens in Northeast Oklahoma. West Claims that constituents have been clamoring for a solution to concerns over the expansion of the poultry industry, right... Can you say jobs? Really what is is about is chicken poo, chickens do it, farmers gotta spread it on the land to get rid of it, creating environmental issues and a chance to collect money from both sides. Immediately Josh West was tagged "Chicken Shit Josh".
McCall for his part pointed out that West is willing to "seek compromise that meets the needs and serves the interests of all involved."
In other words, this is nothing more than a shake down for campaign cash from the poultry industry, as in pay up or old Chicken Shit Josh will put you out of business.
