HD 2 Candidate Compares Those Against Him to Hitler and Goebbels
Ah, that point in every argument or debate when someone pulls out the Hitler bomb, comparing your side as bad as Adolf Hitler, as sure sign that they have lost the debate and are grasping at anything. It is called Godwin's Law, the likelihood that if any discussion goes on long enough someone will trot out Hitler.
And so it was last week in response to a Facebook ad campaign against Lying Tom Stites, the Democrat running for the old John Bennett House seat. Lying Tom had gotten caught elaborating and embellishing his brief military career, consisting of a few years at the Air Force Academy and one year at a private prep school on the grounds of the Academy to get his grades up high enough for entry. Stites embellished a mock POW training event that lasted around 36 hours in the field, one that didn't allow hitting or striking of the cadets, and was run by other cadets. Stites morphed that into days and days, into the next week he claimed, of punishment in a 3 x 3 x 4 "box" and being "slightly" slapped around, even mentioning John McCain in his Facebook post.

That was over the top and he was quickly taken to task and asked to show his DD214 military discharge certificate to prove that he was a veteran and had been released honorably. Stites refused to show the DD214, earning a spiffy postcard into his district that we posted last week that laid out that Stites wasn't a veteran according to the Veteran Association, the federal group tasked with taking care of veterans. Yeah, he qualified for the GI Bill. Yeah, he might have an honorary discharge, but no Active Service with a real military job with a real military unit. The boy went to college for three years and then was either washed out or thrown out.
Stites wasn't happy being called out in his district so like all liars are prone to do, he lied again, posting on Facebook that the person that ran the postcards was a convicted felon, a campaign advisor for his opponent, and was a supporter of He that Shall Not Be Mentioned, AKA Ralph Shorty.
Like all good liars, Stites wove a bit of truth into his tale. Yes, there was an illegal prosecution on trumped up charge but it was dismissed after being over turned and remanded to the trial judge for dismissal. That means it never legally happened. Yes, many supported Shorty when he had a good reputation but no one came out in support after he was busted and the charges were known to be true. But the third lie, well, neither the post card owner nor the candidate had ever met, nor had they communicated in any manner or form, that was a bald faced lie.
So a Facebook ad campaign was set loose upon Stites, calling him a lair for his three lies and demanding that he furnish his DD214 on Friday, November 2nd, at noon. At the Sheriff's office in Sequoyah County no less. Other wise he was to be known as Lying Tom forevermore.
Stites wasn't having it at all. He quickly posted that he was once again under attack and mentioned that his opponents liked to use the tactics of Hitler and Goebbels, violating the Godwin rule in fine form and fashion.
The Stites supporters flooded in, a dozen or so at the most, some likely fake profiles, others genuine. Angry vets also flooded in and commented on the boosted Facebook post that laid out the lies. Yet rather than show up on Friday, Lying Tom chose to stay away and called his own meeting at the local public library where he showed supporters, allegedly, his DD214. No one that had the knowledge to read the codes on the document of course, the guy is a liar but he isn't stupid.
The rhetoric was radioactive enough in the days before the meeting that we decided it was time for a bit of fun at Lying Tom's expense so we made this nice little video. As Lying Tom had already brought up Hitler we were free to respond in kind, with a nice video purporting to show Lying Tom in his bunker with his subordinates. Hitler's bunker of course, that infamously funny video clip that can be altered by adding subtitles to the German spoken in the clip.
Perhaps you have to know the candidate, how desperate he was in 2016, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on the race only to lose by a large margin. Angry enough that Lying Tom trashed his office the night of the election returns. And Lying Tom had an Honorary Discharge Certificate that was said to have been purchased by his wife Nan. It was in a frame and you couldn't see the text along the bottom so many assumed it was purchased off Ebay for under $20.00. So we had some fun with that fact as well, with Hitler ultimately having his wife Nan declared a Gypsy and sent off to a camp as long as she didn't suffer. The guy is such a pompous ass, feels he is entitled to the seat as his father was a legislator before he came down with dementia and retired. Even funnier was Lying Tom's propensity to threaten lawsuits or have his attorney threaten lawsuits against anyone that crossed him or posted normal political thoughts that Lying Tom didn't approve of. Sue that you pompous ass. Good luck with that.
Stites of course has blocked most of the opposition on Facebook, still keeps his attorney threatening the billboard company with lawsuits if they do not remove that billboard that shows Lying Tom, Obama, Hillary, and Pelosi. Meanwhile, by now Lying Tom will have spent more than he would ever had earned from being a state representative and still might lose on Tuesday. If not, we will have loads of fun with his toupee wearing butt and see how long he can keep his cool.
