Volunteers are needed for work at the GOP Headquarters. Leslie Tolliver NesSmith is in charge of this project and she needs a lot of help. There is a ton of sorting, organizing, small repairs, inventorying, you name it and it probably needs done.
If you are interested in helping just send us an email at soonerteaparty@gmail.com, tell us what kind of skills you have or if you can help with sorting, inventorying, and organizing stuff. Let us know what your schedule is like too so we can plan some work days or just organize a small project for you to do when you have the time. Or you can fill out this form to get us in contact and provide some information to us to best plug you into the effort.
There is also a need for people willing to staff the GOP during business hours. You can volunteer as your schedule allows, a few hours, or all day. Answering the phone, small tasks around the office, or doing research on things. There is a lot of organizing that needs done including the writing of SOPs, Standard Operating Procedures for tasks like precinct organizing, running a county GOP organization, running a District Convention or State Convention. SOPs would ensure a better ran Party and less head scratching when a new administration took over. Bennett already has some people working on the SOPs but once written there will be a need for some experienced activists and delegates to look them over and suggest changes. Sometimes the Rules say one thing and things are done around the state in a bit different manner. That will need sorted out. Use that same form above to sign up to volunteer.
And does anyone have the time to do some weed eating? We got the grass mowed but not the trimming. And we have a need for mowing and trimming every ten to fourteen days so we have set up a Google form that people can use to let us know they are willing to bring their mower and weed eater and cover one of the mowing slots between now and October. Just click on this link and fill out the form and we will get back in touch to schedule the mowing slot.
A lot of changes are happening. A donor for new conference room chairs was found. Believe it or not
the building has never had an alarm system and a company was found and a donor found to make that happen in the coming weeks. One hard working activist from Edmond, Ronda Lee Peterson, responded to a call for volunteers and showed up to adopt one section of a very ratty flower bed and quickly rebuilt the area with landscape cloth, new plants, and some nifty red rubber mulch. If you or your company (no corporate donations are allowed, LLC and other forms of businesses can donate) want to adopt a section of flower bed we could arrange a small sign stating who or what company has renovated and maintains that section.
The very culture of the GOP must change. It has been a social club with blue haired ladies and wanna be socialites running the Party, where putting on the dog is more important than making sure the office restrooms are clean and the tile falling off the wall is fixed. Greg Treat put it this way a few weeks ago, the GOP is responsible for finding Republicans to run against Democrats, but Treat doesn't realize that the grassroots is now in charge and the GOP's first responsibility is that politicians like Treat act like Republicans and vote like Republicans. We need ladies and men willing to dig in the flower beds, help organize the counties without a GOP organization, and help force the politicians to follow the Party Platform and uphold Oklahoma values.
It is really easy to complain about politics. Now you have a chance to do more than complain. Might not seem important but having a functional HQ that isn't shabby looking is important. Jordan Peterson tells us that the first thing to do is to clean up your room before you try to clean up society. Having the GOP HQ clean and neat shows visitors and potential donors that the Party has support from the grassroots and is willing to do more than host galas and lunches where vapid people pose with politicians for Facebook pictures.
