Drunk On Facebook

Drunk on Facebook, What Could Go Wrong?

Ah, the internet, a never ending source of amusement especially when it comes to drunks using social media. Back in the early days of the internet there was one hilarious case I witnessed on a forum populated mainly by woodworking shop owners with a few employees mixed in. One poor guy must have been drinking and mad at his boss so he starts a thread ragging on employers around 7 pm and as employers chimed in with responses his own typed responses became less and less readable until he was pounding out complete gibberish by 9 pm. You could just know that the guy was  getting drunk as the night went by.

This one wasn't that bad but the followers of our newsletter will be well aware of our constant fun with former Oklahoma County t Clerk Caroline Caudill whose alcohol fueled misdeeds landed her on the wrong side of the law on several occasions. One alleged DUI incident ended with a cop pounding on her door but not allowed entry into the home to see if Caudill was drunk as the other driver claimed, the other ended up with her car parked in someone's yard and a nice mug shot.

We here at the Sooner Tea Party took relish in publicizing her misfortune and alcoholism so it was a bit of a surprise to see this on Facebook back in early November:

Curios minds need to know you see so we used the friend request to send a Facebook message to the obviously drunken former public official. And yeah, it was a pretty sure bet that she was blasted if she was thinking that we were her friends:

No, our friends aren't drunks actually.  We have no problem working with anyone on an issue as long as they are sincere, might fight like cats and dogs on other issues but someone reaching out to cooperate on an important issue is always accepted.... except from notorious drunks.   Always be careful who you allow in your foxhole is good advice.

And we have to confess to holding on to this howler until the appropriate time, New Years Eve. So think of it as a public service announcement on drinking and driving or drinking and typing. Neither end well usually.
