Bullying Doesn't Work Freda Deskin
On May fifth we ran a story by guest writer Lorraine Grula, a former employee of Aztec Charter Schools. Grula's allegations were no surprise to the readers of our newsletter after the 2014 exposure of both Deskin and her long time boyfriend Leo Espinoza, including criminal complaints against Espinoza.
The Democrat donor class had supported Deskin for State Superintendent in the 2014 primary but John Cox supporters gave the Sooner Tea Party enough information on Deskin and Espinoza that we were able to torpedo Deskin's run for office.
We along with the rest of Oklahoma learned later that the GOP candidate Joy Hoffmeister was incahoots with Found Holland, various Democrat donors, Democrat leaders, and union officials to eliminate Deskin from the ticket and clear the way for John Cox whom was known to be a much weaker candidate. That is right, Republican candidates and campaign consultants working with Democrats to elect the GOP candidate to State Superintendent of Schools.
It seems that Freda Deskin too exception to the article and served a cease and desist order on Grula last week, at the most giving her one or two days to respond. The letter is of course a bluff, Deskin is a public person, a former candidate, and fair game as she put herself out there running for office.
And what do we do when a politician threatens or whines? We run more stories about them to teach them a lesson. Libel cases involving public officials are nearly impossible to win as long as no direct lies are told about someone. Even being completely wrong is okay, as long as you have credible reasons why you thought the information was correct. Grula did her work well, it appears to be all factual information about a public figure so Freda Deskin needs to focus on her failing school and restoring integrity there instead of challenging whistle blowers.
