Never the Calvin, Always the Hobbs

Never the Calvin, Always the Hobbs

You gotta admit, the dude looks like the toy tiger from the comic strip Calvin and Hobbs. Then again from looking at his OSCN record he might have went on a bender the night before the picture was taken. But like the irascible stuffed tiger the guy has spent his life as the number two, being a toady for various politicians. Not in the spotlight, always in the shadows carrying water for corrupt politicians.

Meet John Fothergill, a perennial side kick, gopher, and coffee boy for establishment types in Tulsa County. He worked for the liberal City Councilor- Kathy Taylor, then for liberal County Commissioner Karen Keith as her chief coffee boy/deputy dawg, in fact he has spent around 20 years with his snout in the trough. Now the boy is running for Tulsa County Treasurer.

And he sues Tulsa County, the sheriff, and the County Commissioners while working for the Sand Springs City Council. And now he wants to join the County as an elected official? A typical career politician and bureaucrat, jumping from trough to trough, making sure the elite are protected and the common people sheared on a regular basis.

Marion, yeah, that seems to be Fothergill's middle name, was also busted on a DUI in Tulsa County a few years back, without insurance it appears, but Marion pled down to impaired driving and took a guilty plea. Then less than a year later he was caught without valid tags and proof of insurance again it seems but the charges were dismissed. I guess it pays to be a coffee boy with powerful bosses. But do we want a convicted criminal caught driving drunk or impaired or whatever on Tulsa County insurance roles? Can we make him ride a bike or a tricycle instead?

And running against him is Francis Hart. Seventeen years in business and marketing, two degrees from OSU, working in Fortune 500 and 100 firms and as a small businessman. A guy that understands technology and how the business world actually works. His website has a lot of info and with only seven days till the February 9th election I would take a look at the wide swath of experience Hart has been through and consider him instead of the coffee boy for Tulsa County Treasurer.
