Legal Fees: Pay What You Think Is Fair?

Legal Fees, Pay What You Think is Fair?
Kevin Adams is probably the best defense attorney in the state but he is also a guy from humble origins and a true believer that justice is just that and ought not to be dependent on how wealthy you are. He sent us this video the other day and after watching it I called to see if he had had a stroke of genius or just a stroke and had lost his senses.
After watching the video I had concerns but after reading through the intake form on his new website Fair-Fees.com I realized that he had a viable method of both driving down the high cost of legal help and getting people to support his goals of defending people that truly need a hand up and not a hand out.
Basically you apply as a client and give him the details and some idea of your financial situation and what you can afford. If it works, Adams will be constantly busy and can take a smaller fee and not spend a dime on advertising or leads from referral services like most attorneys depend upon. You also basically put your case out there for referral if he is tied up, if you choose that option, and a lawyer with more time than clients can pick up your case at a price you can afford.
Career criminals probably won't receive much sympathy but they are already using the public defenders and pleading out to lesser charges, not that they are going to spend any time in prison anyway or pay more than a fraction of their fines once they are out on probation or parole.
The people that will benefit are the one time trouble kind of folks, make a mistake, will likely learn from it, but don't have an $8000 retainer and another ten grand to pay before the case is done.
