The Worm has Turned, Mclain is Toast

The Worm has Turned,
Mclain is Toast

The news cycle pretty much obliterated GOP Chairman David Mclain. This News 6 story made him look dishonest and cowardly after he canceled a planned interview with the reporter. The News 9 story likewise savaged Mclain for good reasons. The Oklahoman and the Tulsa World published stories critical of Mclain as well.
Friday's Pat Campbell show 7 am segment pretty much did justice on David McLain. I won't say that Pat trashed Mclain but that Mclain trashed himself by lying. Campbell called out Mclain for not telling him that the $20,000 was a loan floated by the RNC. Pat started off stating that after Mclain's early morning interview on KFAQ Mclain canceled the rest of his planned interviews. Sadly that was probably the best tactic for Mclain as he had royally melted down on the KFAQ Pat Campbell show and it wasn't gonna get any better. The financial records are out there, we sent out screen shots in the special edition newsletter on Thursday, Mclain cannot defend the indefensible.
Pat called out Mclain for not telling him where he got the money or when it was put in the bank. Pat also made a point of why three people needed to go to these RNC events. What was unsaid was the fact that in the past anyone going to an RNC meeting paid their own way and their own hotel bills.
Pat played the Channel 9 report with the bookkeeper stating that the Party was dead broke and exposing the lie that the Party had plenty of money. The bookkeeper also pointed out that both August and September utility bills ere unpaid and they were going into October with no money.
Pat made much fun of Mclain's statements that the “alt right” media were trying to control the Party and that Turner was controlled by the “tall building crowd” and yet Mclain refused to exposed who exactly he was talking about. They were out to get him, but he won't name them.
Pat wasn't happy with the public fight and “back biting” but he wasn't sitting still for Mclain's lies.
Oklahoma GOP Vice Chair Mike Turner was on the Pat Campbell show Friday morning around 9 am to defend himself from the Thursday show where Mclain attacked Turner. Pat started off by recounting the budget woes and allegations including the fact that the money Mclain claimed was in the bank was a bailout by the RNC.
Turner explained the problem of the never Trumpers being in control of the Victory 2020 election fundraising. Pat asked if the party was in good shape when it was handed over and it was, right after the convention there was around $19,000 in the bank and zero credit card debt. Turner hammered Mclain on the deficit spending and lack of fundraising, and not attacking the Democrats and Sandra Horn.
Turner was asked why he hadn't raised money for the Party and he explained how doors were slammed in his face due to the hiring of never Trumpers. The hiring of mystery man Tom Demont was another problem, donors said that they didn't know where the money would be going.
Turner did get criticized by a listener on social media that was mentioned in the interview, about Turner warning one donor not to donate and he didn't explain that it was a family member. He did point out that there were other places to park the money to put it to good use for the Republican Party. He did point out that even Gary Jones resigned as the Budget Committee Chairman due to the extreme financial distress, Jones remains as a member but he was smart enough to resign as Chairman.
Some regional butt hurts came into play. Tulsa has always had a problem and inferiority complex over OKC being the Capitol. That was thrown up, that there was more to Oklahoma than Congressional District 5. Yet David Mclain himself campaigned for GOP Chairman by talking about how important CD5 is and how it has to be the main thrust in the 2020 campaign. Ten days after the convention, Mclain spoke at a TARA meeting about the importance of CD5 and winning back the seat.

Pat brought up the Brogdon/Estella Hernandez fight a few years back. But that was so different. First Estella was doing her best to take over as Chairman, Turner just wants the Party to not be broke and for the Party to do its job supporting Trump and taking on Sandra Horn. STP tracked down Estella's husband on a job site using private investigators and published a video of the illegal alien worker she was employing and then published the audio tape of Estella shrilling berating Brogdon at Party headquarters. Even Pat Campbell called her out when she lied about that meeting on his show.
Turner pointed out that meager finances didn't mean the GOP was powerless, they had a bully pulpit to speak to media. He pointed out that there were alternate organizations already raising money for the CD5 fight.
Turner did a good job on the interview, not perfect, no one will do perfect when an aggressive interviewer is doing their job. But he did a great job defending his name and pointing out the real problem, David Mclain and his spend thrift ways and propensity to surround himself with far right radical dominionist theory fanatics and abolitionists.
